Mechanical / Conveyor Installer
Job Description
Blueforce Logistics is looking for reliable, safety-focused Mechanical / Conveyor Installers to support industrial installation and maintenance projects across Canada.
This is a hands-on position involving the assembly, installation, alignment, adjustment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of conveyor systems, mechanical equipment, and related industrial machinery.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, align, and level conveyor systems and associated mechanical equipment.
- Install, adjust, and repair mechanical components including gearboxes, motors, bearings, pumps, shafts, drive systems, and other mechanical components.
- Perform mechanical installation, maintenance, and corrective repairs on industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with conveyors, automated production lines, and material handling systems.
- Assist with the installation, setup, commissioning, and verification of new equipment and production lines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, levels, measuring equipment, and other mechanical installation tools to accurately assemble and adjust equipment.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems as required by the project.
- Collaborate with supervisors, other trades, and site personnel to coordinate work and meet project timelines.
- Maintain personal tools and equipment in good working order and ensure tools and PPE are used safely.
- Follow all site safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), fall protection, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform work in accordance with project specifications, quality requirements, and site procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical installation, industrial maintenance, construction,
conveyor installation, millwright work, or a related field is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with conveyor and mechanical equipment installation, including assembly, alignment, and leveling.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a variety of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and industrial installation documentation.
- Proficiency using common hand and power tools, including:
- Wrenches
- Socket sets
- Impact guns
- Screwdrivers
- Hammers
- Levels
- Measuring tapes and other measuring equipment
- Experience with mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repairs is an asset.
- Ability to work safely in industrial and construction environments.
- Understanding of LOTO and equipment isolation procedures is an asset.
- Comfortable working at heights and from aerial work platforms.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and follow direction from supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a professional standard of work.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working for extended periods in an active industrial environment.
Required PPE & Equipment
All workers must have their own CSA-approved PPE, including:
- CSA-approved 6" or 8" steel-toe safety boots
- Safety glasses
- Hard hat – Type II – With Chin Strap
- Cut Resistant gloves
- Long pants
- 5-point tear-away orange reflective vest
- Harness and lanyard
- Installer tool kit ( list to be provided )
Workers must also have access to the required hand and power tools for their assigned work. A complete tool and equipment list will be provided prior to mobilization.
Certifications
The following certifications are considered an asset and may be required depending on the project:
- Working at Heights
- Aerial Work Platform (AWP)
- Forklift
- LOTO
- 4/5 Step ( Ontario )
- CSTS ( Alberta )
- WHMIS
Blueforce may be able to assist qualified workers with obtaining certain certifications where required.
Work Setting
Work is performed primarily in industrial, construction, manufacturing, distribution, and material-handling environments.
The work is hands-on and physically active and may involve:
- Conveyor systems
- Automated material handling equipment
- Production and processing equipment
- Mechanical machinery
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Elevated work platforms
- Work at heights
- Active construction and installation environments
Workers are expected to maintain a high level of safety awareness, keep their tools and PPE in good condition, and follow all site-specific safety procedures.
Project schedules may include extended shifts, weekends, overtime, and travel, depending on project requirements.
