Lakeshore Animal Health Partners (“LAHP”) is seeking a Hybrid Animal Care Attendant for our Surgery and Anesthesia Departments, for our 24/7 emergency and referral hospital.

LAHP is located in the Greater Toronto Area and offers 24/7 emergency care alongside a comprehensive array of specialty veterinary services. Our guiding mission at LAHP is to provide pets with access to the same quality of healthcare available to their owners.

About the Role

As our ideal candidate you will have:

- Minimum 1 year of experience working as an animal care attendant in a veterinary hospital
- Special interest and previous experience in surgery is an asset
- Passion for what you do every day! Enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude
- Strong communication skills
- An ability and desire to flourish in new environments

Under the direct supervision of Anesthesia and Surgery RVTs and Board-certified Surgeons, the duties and responsibilities of a Hybrid ACA include, but are not limited to:

- Assist with patient restraint for procedures and anesthesia induction
- Prepare surgical sites, including shaving and sterilizing the area
- Select and prepare appropriate surgical packs and instruments, maintaining sterile technique
- Position patients correctly on the operating table based on the surgical procedure
- Open and provide any additional instruments or equipment needed during surgery
- Clean the operating room after procedures and ensure proper sterilization of instruments
- Assist with patient recovery post-surgery
- Perform general ACA duties such as laundry, cage cleaning, feeding, and walking patients
- Restrain patients for sedation and prepare induction tables with blankets, padding, and warming devices
- Set up anesthetic trays with intubation equipment and prepare anesthetic machines,



ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Support with induction, intubation, shaving, and preparation
- Prepare post-operative recovery beds, including setting up fluid and syringe pumps as needed
- Scan anesthetic records and update patient files
- Maintain and stock induction and anesthetic equipment
- Keep the induction and recovery areas clean by wiping surfaces, vacuuming, and mopping floors

Candidate Requirements

- Ability to work independently
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure workplace
- Exemplary client service skills
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology is desirable
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical software (ezyVet and VetRadar)
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Exceptional organization skills
- Takes initiative and accepts accountability
- Must be able to lift +50 lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Experience:

- Veterinary Assistant: 1 year (required)
- surgery: 1 year (preferred)
