The Role
We are seeking an experienced Cisco and Nokia BNG Engineer / Network Design Engineer to design, implement, integrate, and support Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) solutions across large-scale telecommunications and service provider environments.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong experience with Cisco IOS XR and Nokia 7750 SR/TiMOS platforms, broadband subscriber technologies, and IP/MPLS networking. You will play a key role in the design, testing, deployment, and operational readiness of next-generation broadband services, working closely with architects, network engineers, operations teams, and technology vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low Level Designs (LLDs) for BNG, broadband, and IP/MPLS solutions.
- Design and implement broadband subscriber management solutions across Cisco and Nokia platforms.
- Configure and integrate Cisco IOS XR platforms, including ASR9K, NCS5K, and Cisco 8000 series.
- Configure and support Nokia 7750 SR and TiMOS-based BNG solutions.
- Validate and troubleshoot PPPoE, IPoE, DHCP, QoS, RADIUS, L2TP, and subscriber management features.
- Support end-to-end design reviews, lab testing, user acceptance testing, and production deployments.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders on solution design and delivery activities.
- Develop migration strategies, implementation plans, and network cutover procedures.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and support major incident resolution activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and provide recommendations for service improvements.
- Produce and maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
- Support operational handover activities and ensure solutions meet acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to network automation and modernisation initiatives where applicable.
- Engage with architecture, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
What You'll Need
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IOS XR platforms, including ASR9K, NCS5K, Cisco 8000, or similar service provider technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience with Nokia BNG platforms, including 7750 SR and TiMOS.
- Deep understanding of IP/MPLS networking concepts and service provider architectures.
- Experience with BGP, ISIS, LDP, EVPN, Segment Routing, and broadband access technologies.
- Strong knowledge of subscriber management technologies including PPPoE, DHCP, IPoE, QoS, RADIUS, and broadband authentication processes.
- Experience producing detailed HLDs, LLDs, implementation plans, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience supporting testing, deployment, migration, and operational readiness activities.
- Ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Experience within large telecommunications, service provider, or broadband network environments.
- Understanding of operational support models, major incident management, and RCA processes.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Nokia NSP and Cisco NSO.
- Knowledge of network automation technologies including NETCONF, YANG, and OpenConfig.
- Experience with residential broadband services, FTTH/FTTP networks, and subscriber access platforms.
- Experience with CGNAT, MAP-T, and fixed-mobile convergence solutions.
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation, orchestration, and software-defined networking practices.
- CCNP Service Provider certification or equivalent practical experience.
- Additional vendor certifications from Cisco or Nokia are highly regarded.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in network engineering, telecommunications, or service provider environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying large-scale broadband and BNG solutions.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP Service Provider, CCIE SP, Nokia NRS, or equivalent are desirable.
