The Newell Housing Foundation provides housing for seniors and low income families in the County of Newell. We are currently seeking an energetic, friendly, employee who enjoys seniors to join our team.
The Newell Housing Foundation is currently seeking a F*ull Time* Maintenance worker who will be responsible for the performance of general building and grounds maintenance tasks and projects for the Pioneer Villas, Village Villas and Community Housing units. This position manages and maintains a preventative maintenance program. The successful applicant must enjoy working with seniors and have the ability to work as a team. Experience with computers, as well as with equipment operation and grounds maintenance an asset. Must have a vehicle for travel to multiple properties and able to hook on a trailer to move equipment or make dump trips.
Qualifications:
· Must be pleasant and sincere in dealing with residents, as well as staff members, to provide a warm homelike atmosphere
· Background and proven ability in the area of Maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, painting, lighting, household fixes, flooring, move equipment, maintenance appliances, sprinkler systems, etc.
· Ability to take and follow directions, prioritize job importance
· High degree of flexibility in jobs and dealing with tenant personalities
· Must be trustworthy and have a sincere respect for all personal property of tenants
· Good communication skills, contact outside services for approved maintenance issues
· Monday to Friday with On-call for afterhours and weekend maintenance issues
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs or manage heavy jobs or equipment
· Ability to understand and operate all equipment in the department, including lawn mowers, heating systems, plumbing systems, and apartment building systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Worker to maintain a professional relationship with the residents of buildings by performing the duties identified for this position in a courteous, efficient manner
· Works as part of the staff team to ensure that a high quality of support services is provided to the residents
· Adheres to and participate in the Health and Safety Procedures and Policies of the Foundation and must perform all tasks in a safe and effective manner
· Keeps detailed records of maintenance items that are reported to them so they may be submitted to the Manager
· Reports to the Manager items or resident’s behavior that may pose potential problems
· Must follow the defined lines of communication for Newell Housing Foundation
· Reliable, independent worker, and a team player
· Other related duties as assigned and/or required

Pay: From $25.91 per hour
