IT Support Specialist – Information Technology Services

Job Overview
Tech Masters Inc. is seeking a customer-service-focused IT professional to join our team. We are a small, established IT services company supporting a diverse range of businesses throughout the greater Edmonton area and beyond.

This is a hands-on, client-facing technical role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, implementing solutions, working directly with customers, and taking ownership of issues from start to finish.

The successful candidate will provide responsive, professional IT support while also helping clients maintain reliable, secure, and current technology environments. This includes identifying aging or inadequate systems and providing practical recommendations for replacements, upgrades, and improvements.

Responsibilities

- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide remote, telephone, and on-site support for computers, software, networks, servers, cloud services, and other IT systems.
- Hardware & Software: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot workstations, operating systems, applications, peripherals, and related equipment.
- Microsoft 365: Deploy, configure, administer, and support Microsoft 365 environments.
- Servers & Virtualization: Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V, and related infrastructure.
- Networking: Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, internet connectivity, and network security.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot backup and recovery solutions to protect client data and support business continuity.
- Cybersecurity: Assist with security assessments, identify risks,



recommend improvements, implement cybersecurity solutions, and provide ongoing support.
- Technology Assessment & Lifecycle Planning: Evaluate client technology environments and identify aging equipment, performance limitations, security concerns, and other areas requiring attention. Keep clients and management informed of recommended replacements, upgrades, and technology improvements.
- Project Work: Participate in hardware deployments, infrastructure upgrades, migrations, Microsoft 365 implementations, networking, backup, cybersecurity, and other client IT projects.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate technical documentation and provide information and reporting to clients, management, and other stakeholders as required.
- User Training: Provide practical guidance and training to clients and end users on recent or existing technologies.

Reporting

- Report directly to the General Manager

Requirements and skills

- Driver's Licence & Transportation: Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle. Travel to client locations is required.
- Technical Experience: Solid working knowledge of computer hardware, Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking, and general IT infrastructure.
- Related Technologies: Experience with Microsoft Azure, VMware, Hyper-V, Autotask PSA, Datto RMM, Quest Rapid Recovery, Veeam, firewalls, VPNs, Microsoft Defender, Bitdefender, MFA, and endpoint security solutions is considered an asset.




- Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical problems accurately and efficiently.
- Technical Assessment: Ability to recognize aging, unsuitable, or higher-risk technology and make practical recommendations for maintenance, replacement, upgrades, or improvements.
- Communication: Ability to explain technical information and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical users.
- Professional Client Presence: This is a client-facing role. The successful candidate must be comfortable interacting with business owners, managers, and end users and representing Tech Masters Inc. professionally at client locations. This includes courteous and respectful conduct, explicit communication, good judgment, reliability, and maintaining a workplace-appropriate professional presentation.
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to providing excellent service and building positive client relationships.
- Organization & Independence: Ability to manage multiple priorities, document work accurately, work independently when required, and collaborate effectively with a small technical team.
- Education: Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, or a related field is considered an asset. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

Pay: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
