About the role:

We’re actively searching for a Chief Resource and Development Geologist to provide technical leadership across Grade Control, Mine Exploration, and Resource teams while collaborating with Mine Engineering, Drill & Blast, and Operations. Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, this role leads a team of 20 people and drives geological excellence and workforce development.
This role directly supports IAMGOLD’s purpose by advancing the safe, responsible, and sustainable development of mineral resources. Through strong technical leadership, resource growth, workforce capability building, and adherence to leading health and safety standards, the Chief Resource and Development Geologist helps maximize long-term value and operational success.

Responsibilities:

- Build a team-oriented team environment, training junior geologists in core logging, drill hole planning, resource modelling and estimation, and field safety protocols.




- Oversee and monitor on- and off-site assay lab performance
- Maintain comprehensive QAQC programs and evaluate opportunities for improvement within current protocols and procedures
- Oversee and evaluate grade control model updates, evaluating new assay data and maximizing ore feed to the mill
- Direct resource reconciliation programs and identify opportunities to improve resource confidence and mine performance
- Support annual resource and reserve estimation processes through collaboration with mine engineering and corporate technical service teams
- Combine new drilling data with pit observations to keep the mine's 3D geological models accurate for short- and long-term planning.
- Design, execute and manage DDH drilling programs (resource conversion and near mine expansion) to find new resource pockets and extend the overall lifespan of the mine.
- Partner with the short-term and long-term planning engineers to align daily digging schedules and longer-term forecasts with geological realities.
- Foster professional development by offering exposure to advanced mining software, data analysis training, and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

Key Skills & Knowledge:

- Bachelor of Science in Geology or relevant Geoscience is required.
- Registered (or ability to obtain registration) within an appropriate professional organization.
- Ability to act as QP for mineral resource declarations in line with NI43-101 compliance at the Cote Gold Mine Site

Relevant Experience:

- Minimum 10 years experience in Mining Operations, Exploration and Resource modeling.
At least 5 years supervision experience
