ServiceMaster Restore of Edmonton is seeking a hands-on, experienced Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Finance, the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and year-end processes, reconciliations, financial reporting, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.

Responsibilities

- Prepare monthly and annual closing journal entries, including supporting working papers and documentation.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare accurate timely reports, including but not limited to:
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Clearing account reconciliations
- Fixed asset schedules
- Capital lease schedules
- Review daily labour reports to ensure accurate project coding, labour rates, and allocation of costs.
- Prepare and submit GST filings accurately within required deadlines.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified through account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Evaluate current accounting processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend and assist with the implementation of process enhancements.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new systems, processes, and priorities.




- Experience working in a multi-entity accounting environment is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education specializing in accounting.
- Robust understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices, including Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience working in a multi-entity accounting environment is considered an asset.
- Experience with Acumatica is considered an asset.
- Experience working in the construction industry is considered an asset.
