Job Description

Urban Life Solutions and City Wide Towing are hiring a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Calgary team! In this role, you’ll inspect, diagnose, and repair a wide range of fleet vehicles and equipment, including tow trucks, loaders, skid steers, tractors, trailers, and snow removal machinery. If you’re safety-focused, hands-on, and experienced with heavy-duty equipment, this is a great prospect to join a growing, national company.

Major Responsibilities :
Always Demonstrating high safety standards and safe work practices

Working in accordance with CWT policies and procedures

Working within a team to assist in the management of repairs.

Troubleshooting and servicing Heavy Wreckers, Tow trucks, Deck trucks, Highway tractors, highway trailers, Excavators, Wheel loaders, Skid steers, Wide area mowers, Sanders and Snowplow equipment in a shop environment or in the field, as required

Utilizing manuals and diagnostic programs to perform work duties.

Working with Supply chain to ensure consumables are in stock.

Maintaining and tracking work orders online

Utilizing mechanical lifting devices and winches

Utilizing Hydrostatic tools and equipment

Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the shop

Required Qualifications

Journeyman Certification for Heavy Duty Mechanics

Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Driver’s abstract will be required for verification upon hire)

Can supply own tools.

Ability to read and comprehend work orders.





Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

Demonstrated willingness to learn and succeed.

Ability to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team.

Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Hydraulic experience

Diesel engine diagnostic experience .

Working conditions:
We have a variety of shifts available to suit your lifestyle (Days, Evenings, Weekends)

Working within both indoor and outdoor work environments; ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, dusty and noisy work environments.

Mechanical Aptitude

Considerable standing, walking, squatting, pushing/pulling, grasping, lifting and reaching.

Some climbing, sitting and driving.

Manual and finger dexterity as well as eye-hand and foot coordination

Ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting/carrying of items up to 50lbs
