We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Field Technician to join our team in the Burlington area. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of hands-on experience working with electrical power distribution equipment, along with strong knowledge of control and protection systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform diagnostic testing, inspections, and analysis on medium- and low-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, and associated protection and control circuits to evaluate equipment condition and system performance.
- Perform power system studies using ETAP, including short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
- Test and commission protection relays.
- Perform transformer testing, including turns-ratio testing (TTR) and winding-resistance testing.
- Perform generator testing, including partial-discharge, tan-delta, and winding-resistance testing.
- Test circuit breakers, including contact resistance, timing, insulation resistance (IR), and high-potential (hipot) testing.
- Test current transformers (CTs) and capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs), including insulation resistance (IR) and turns-ratio testing (TTR).
- Execute field modifications, retrofits, and upgrades to circuit breakers, protective relays, control wiring, and switchgear assemblies.
- Carry out start-up, functional verification, and commissioning of new and refurbished power distribution equipment in compliance with CSA, IEEE, and customer standards.
- Troubleshoot complex control and protection faults and operational failures using schematics, logic diagrams,



and test instruments.
- Provide real-time technical support and guidance to customers and field personnel by phone, online, and on-site.
- Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, as-built drawings, and operation manuals.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and condition assessments.
- Prepare technical recommendations for future upgrades, replacements, and reliability improvements.

Qualifications

- At least five years of hands-on experience working with electrical power distribution equipment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical control and protection systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage field assignments effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams.
- Experience with testing and commissioning electrical power distribution equipment.
- Electrical Construction experience is preferred.
- A Master Electrician Licence is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation may be required for field assignments.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs.

Additional Information

This is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week emergency service operation. The successful candidate must be flexible and available to respond to occasional emergency service requirements.

Compensation: Starting at $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Hours: Vary according to project and emergency-service requirements; typical hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
