Position DescriptionA temporary part-time (0.48) Early Literacy Intervention Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective immediately until June 12, 2026. The assignment will be at Baldonnel Elementary School.School OverviewBaldonnel Elementary School is a rural K-6 school located 15 minutes from Fort St. John and midway between Fort St. John and the community of Taylor. The school has a student population of 110 students, 30% of whom are Indigenous. It employs 10 dedicated and collegial staff members. District Itinerant Staff provide a range of services. Students participate in district elementary sports, band, gifted and enrichment programs, and the school has an active Parent Advisory Council (PAC).Qualifications and ExperienceValid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years levelExperience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of studentsExcellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organization skillsExperience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belongingStrong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learnUnderstanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short‑term and long‑term in consideration of class compositionWillingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learningDemonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro‑active and maintain student dignityDemonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignityPreference will be given to those trained in reading recoveryExperience as a reading recovery and/or reading support teacherApplication RequirementsThree (3) referencesVerification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)Compensation$2,000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4,000 for teachers from other areas$3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
