We offer full‑day, before‑and‑after‑school, summer camps, and forest school programs.We are recruiting Assistant Educators to join our team in Alliston atWellington Street. These positions fill new and existing vacancies.Pay Range:Assistant Educator $20.20 – $23.08/hour(includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) and Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).*Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before‑and‑after‑school program.Position Type & Required Availability:Casual Supply status (variable hours):Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month.Full‑time Split Shift Position (30 hours/week):Candidates must be available to work a split‑shift (morning and afternoon) in the Before & After School programs Monday‑Friday.About the OrganizationUpper Canada Child Care is guided by values of support, trust, safety, respect, and professionalism, prioritizing play‑based learning and outdoor exploration. and a formal mentorship program.Position SummaryEnsure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. Deliver a developmentally appropriate, play‑based program by applying specialized skills related to early childhood education. Support the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in‑centre position.Job ResponsibilitiesApply current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.Participate in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and training sessions as required.Engage with children and provide a positive learning experience, including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.Foster ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.Complete program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administrative tasks as required.Use Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.Collaborate and communicate effectively with other team members, school personnel,
and outside agencies to support the needs of all children.Provide guidance to students and volunteers as needed.Identify children in need of additional support, guide parents through resource access, and help design and implement individual support plans as required.Qualifications & RequirementsHealth assessment and record of immunization, as outlined by legislation.Up‑to‑date certification in CPR‑C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).Basic knowledge of the developmental needs of children and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge.Experience with inquiry/play‑based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation an asset.Use initiative; apply sound reasoning to solve problems and resolve conflict calmly and professionally.Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers, and other professionals.Have the physical and emotional stamina to supervise children in a variety of settings, including outdoor public spaces.Ability to use computer systems and programs including Dayforce and Storypark.Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required, including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.Equal Opportunity and AccommodationsUpper Canada Child Care is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and encourages applications from members of our diverse communities.
