Questrade Inc. has multiple client tax reporting obligations to various tax regulators. The Supervisor’s purpose is to plan and monitor the daily activities within the Tax Reporting team, ensuring timeliness and accuracy while maintaining a positive customer experience.Tax ReportingLeads and monitors periodic and ad‑hoc activities that lead to successful Canadian & U.S. client tax reportingHas general knowledge in preparing tax slips such as T5, T3, T5013, NR4, T5008, T1135, 1099, 1042S, Realized Gain/Loss report, and/or K‑1Prepares and monitors XML filingsLeads and monitors the tax season project plan to ensure all regulatory deadlines are met or exceededLeads discussions to ensure accurate classification of securities and income for tax reportingEnsures timely remittance of payments to the CRA, MRQ, and/or IRSAssists management as a point of contact with the IRSLeads and monitors daily tasks such as security and corporate action research, FX conversions, mail and email monitoring, and distributionSupervises the reconciliation of internal tax remittance accounts with tax accounts with each regulatorConducts audits of client documentation to meet QI/FATCA/CRS requirements and assists with auditsManages distribution of client tax reporting related cases, ensuring timely resolution and recommending process improvementsAttends industry calls or conferences, drafting call memos and distributing them to an internal audienceReviews and coaches team members on complex reorganization and entitlement events to determine taxable or non‑taxable treatmentPossesses deep knowledge of complex QI end‑to‑end processAssists with KPI reports and project status reportingCost BasisEnsures accurate cost basis information is reflected in clients’ accountsReviews complex reorganization and entitlement events to determine cost basisGeneral ResponsibilitiesConducts interviews and makes hiring recommendationsSchedules weekly team meetings and ensures active participationMaintains the team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, fostering a collaborative, positive, safe, secure, and legal work environment and creating personal growth opportunitiesAccomplishes team results by communicating job expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job results; coaches and disciplinesemployees; develops, coordinates, and enforces system, policy, procedure, and productivity standardsLeads team process improvement initiatives and inspires others to make operational processes more efficientCollaborates with team members, peers, department heads, and administrators to identify and implement process efficiencies and changes affecting tax reporting in other teamsSupervises policies and procedures creation and updatesCoordinates internal resources for team, department, and organization‑wide projects, assisting Tax Manager, Project Managers, and Business Analysts in flawless project executionProvides oversight over applicable outside service providers, ensuring all parties meet their SLAsBuilds positive and productive relationships with internal teams and external third‑party service providersAssists with establishing short and long‑term goals by gathering pertinent business, service, and operational information and metrics, then identifying, evaluating, and choosing a course of action, defining objectives, and evaluating outcomesOther duties, as assignedSo you are our next Supervisor, U.S. Tax Reporting? You are if you…Have 3+ years experience in client tax reporting, ideally within the brokerage industryHave 1+ years of experience in a people leadership role, strongly preferred, ideally with client tax reportingHave a university or post‑graduate degreeAre considered an SME in Canadian and/or U.S. client tax reporting and filing processes (ideally both)Have deep understanding of U.S. withholding certificates (e.G., W‑9s, W‑8s), Qualified Intermediary requirements, and FATCA and CRS 2.0 requirementsHave knowledge of dividends, income processing, reorg, registered plansHave experience with book of records and back‑office operational systems and processesHave knowledge of database queries (e.G., SQL),
