We’re hiring aTechnical Product Manager, AI Systems & Architecture, to define and operationalize the architectural backbone of our AI systems. This role is architect-first, feature-second. You will define the systems that allow AI to understand student work, interpret progress, and support educators — all from one shared platform layer. Your focus is on defining how the system behaves: the logic, flow, and structure that make the experience work. You will have support from Engineering to implement the underlying infrastructure. You’ll start as one half of a two-person team, initially on your own, with a dedicated AI-focused engineer to be hired shortly after you begin — allowing you to move quickly, think holistically, and deliver early vertical slices that evolve into core platform features.Success in this role is measured by:Clear, structured architectural decisionsCrisp documentation and scopingSystems that are ready for engineering executionVertical slices shipped with defined evaluation criteriaThis is not a “prompt ideation” or research-heavy strategy role. This includes:Designing the transformation pipeline from content (text, images, documents) into usable signalsDefining tagging, enrichment, and indexing strategiesSpecifying retrieval logic and ranking approachesDetermining how context is assembled for AI reasoningDefining failure states and fallback behavioursYou will not implement pipelines — but you will define their required behaviour with precision.Orchestration & Model RoutingYou will define the rules that govern how AI models are used across the platform. This includes:When retrieval is used vs. when generative reasoning is invokedHow different tools and model types interactModel selection strategies based on cost, latency, and quality constraintsGuardrails for safe and consistent outputsShared foundations across AI experiencesYou define the playbook that engineers execute.Cost, Reliability & GuardrailsYou will ensure the AI platform scales responsibly. This includes:Establishing an SLM-first philosophy where appropriateDefining cost envelopes and routing constraintsIdentifying caching and efficiency strategiesDesigning monitoring and evaluation signalsEnsuring multi-tenant data isolation and privacyYou ensure AI remains reliable, affordable, and scalable.Vertical Slice DeliveryYou will scope and deliver the first end-to-end AI experiences that demonstrate platform value.



This includes:Defining realistic, constrained vertical slicesWriting clear specifications that move from input → system logic → output → evaluationPartnering with engineering to ship working demosDefining quality benchmarks before releaseSuccess is measured by working slices — not abstract strategy.Innovation Pod LeadershipYou will form the foundation of a small, high-leverage AI pod. You are expected to join our team first, forming the initial half of a two-person innovation team. Shortly after you begin in this technical product role, we will also hire a dedicated AI-focused engineer, and you two will collaborate daily to move quickly, test ideas, and deliver early vertical slices that evolve into core platform features.
