Together, we’re making an impact around the world.If you’re looking for a career that moves, join our team of professionals who are passionate about the future of transportation.Position OverviewThe Transportation EIT will join a team of experienced highway designers to develop skills in identifying deficiencies, evaluating improvement alternatives, and selecting preferred alternatives based on design guidelines. The ideal candidate leverages sound qualified judgement, creativity, and innovation, coordinates internal and external constituents, demonstrates experience on planning and engineering projects, facilitates meetings and has strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.Position will be full‑time employment and workplace is in our Hamilton or London office.Your Key ResponsibilitiesAssist on a variety of tasks, including reviewing relevant policies, performing technical analysis, writing technical reports, and preparing presentations for clients.Conduct site investigations to understand existing conditions, site constraints, and other challenges.Develop alignments, profiles, typical cross‑sections, and grading cross‑sections.Design roadside safety and roadway drainage.Calculate quantities and perform cost estimating.Prepare contract documents.Prepare and present information to the public.Schedule projects and coordinate multi‑discipline teams.Assist with the preparation of proposals, project reporting,



and other marketing endeavors.Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.Your Capabilities and CredentialsThis position is intended for a recent or upcoming graduate of a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis on Transportation Engineering.Working knowledge of relevant roadway and highway design guides, such as the TAC Geometric Design Guide.Familiarity with highway and roadway design related software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and InRoads/OpenRoads.Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Similar summer work‑term or co‑op experience is a definite asset.Good technical writing skills; capable of creating reports, letters and specifications as well as oral communication.Initiative in tasks and coordination with other team members.Proficient in the Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.Eligibility for registration as an EIT with APEGA.0–2 years of relevant transportation engineering experience (co‑op experience counts).Work EnvironmentTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. The final agreed compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
