IHSC is the principal surgical site for KGH and houses 9 specialised operating rooms: Thoracic, Urology, Neurosurgery, Vascular, Plastics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, ENT, Orthopedics, General and Trauma, with 2 ORs dedicated to Cardiac. The newly opened Centennial Building adds 360,000 square feet of expanded emergency, ambulatory care, larger operating rooms, and a rooftop helipad. KGH is a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program of UBC and trains Royal College Emergency Medicine physicians and Family Physicians.PracticeExcellent opportunity for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department at KGH, delivering inpatient and outpatient child and youth mental health services alongside a strong culture of teamwork and clinical excellence.ResponsibilitiesConduct psychiatric assessment and treatment of patients up to 18 years of age, typically admitted through the Emergency Department.Support admission to the Interior Health tertiary Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, a specialised inpatient programme for 12‑17‑year‑olds with significant psychiatric symptoms such as psychosis,



mood or anxiety disorders; unit has 8 beds and operates 7 days a week with stays of 10 days to several weeks.Participate in multidisciplinary evaluation teams comprising nurses, youth and family counsellors, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, teachers, psychiatrists and other disciplines as needed; actively involve adolescents, families and community mental health services.Perform patient assessment, treatment, clinical collaboration, and assist in developing and maintaining programmes, policies and procedures.Assume active staff privileges at RIH and act as Most Responsible Physician for new child & youth psychiatric admissions; participate in the general on‑call schedule.Engage in community work supporting family physicians, paediatricians and community child & youth mental health services; collaborate in transition‑to‑adulthood programmes, eating disorder and substance use disorder subspecialties, and the provincial Foundry Centre offering health and wellness resources to 12‑24‑year‑olds.Provide teaching opportunities to medical students and residents as KGH is affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program.QualificationsQualified acute care psychiatrist with experience or interest in child and adolescent psychiatry, particularly those with work in DDMH. Must be a licensed physician, able to obtain and maintain primary clinical privileges at KGH and the associated facilities.Compensation and BenefitsCompensation: $250,000 – $400,000 plus MOCAP level 2 Physician Overhead (private practice related overhead costs). Benefits include relocation funding of $9,000 – $15,000 for 1.0 FTE positions (eligible for pro‑rated reimbursement for part‑time opportunities).
