Your roleReporting to the Director, Global Tax, the Tax Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Global Relay’s dynamic tax function. This new role is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in tax and a desire to build and diversify their skillset in the field. As Global Relay continues to grow, the Tax Analyst will play an instrumental role in helping the business scale its increasingly complex corporate and indirect tax obligations and reporting requirements in Canada and abroad. The Tax Analyst will be a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to field and resolve tax-related queries.Your responsibilitiesCorporate/Direct TaxAssist in the preparation of Global Relay’s portfolio of interim and year‑end corporate tax provisions for multiple entities in various jurisdictions, including Canada, the United States, and the United KingdomEnsure the timely and accurate preparation of domestic and international information returns and various corporate franchise taxes throughout the United StatesCompile and provide corporate tax return information to external consultants and perform comprehensive review of deliverables therefromAssist in internal processes related to the Scientific Research & Experimental Development (‘SR&ED;’) and Research & Development Expenditure Credit (‘RDEC’) programs, ensuring timely and accurate capturing of information required for such claimsWork with the Tax Managers to record corporate tax expense and related disclosures within Global Relay’s financial statements, book‑to‑tax analyses, tax account reconciliations, and financial statement recognition and presentation of the SR&ED; and RDEC programsAssist the Tax Managers with compiling documentation for audit queries and information requestsIndirect TaxesPrepare indirect tax returns such as sales tax, use tax, GST/HST, PST,



and VAT returns in various jurisdictions and record relevant journal entriesAssist the Tax Managers with research on state and local tax legislation and its applicability to service and product offerings in order to conclude on sales taxabilityFacilitate the collection and retention of all tax documentation related to the taxability of services such as tax residency, exemption certificates, and other artefactsOtherAssist with research and preparation of memos as needed on corporate and sales tax implications of various scenarios and tax law changesParticipate in ad hoc tax, accounting and finance projects, analyses and initiatives as requiredLiaise with the Canada Revenue Agency (‘CRA’) and other tax authorities as requiredAbout youPost‑secondary education in a business field (specialization in finance or accounting is preferred)2 years of relevant work experience in accounting and/or taxation is preferredA foundational understanding of accounting, direct taxes and/or indirect (i.E. sales) taxes is an asset but is not a firm requirement. Willingness to learn and become proficient in diverse accounting and tax rules is essentialExperience working in a company that provides Software as a Service (‘SaaS’) is an assetExcellent analytical and problem‑solving abilitiesExceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and time‑manageImpeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detailTech‑savvy including expert‑level Excel proficiency, with advanced knowledge of Word and PowerPointExcellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear,



concise and formal business communicationsAbility to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential informationAbility to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervisionCompensationGlobal Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia’s pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and skilled background.
