All through the year, there are many opportunities to enjoy local talent, learn about our past and seek out new interestsThe OpportunityThe City of Selkirk is currently in search of a Protective Services Summer Student – Emergency Management to join our team. Under the supervision of the Director of Protective Services the incumbent will be responsible for assisting the department with the development and partial implementation of the City’s four-year exercise cycle plan as well as various other emergency management related projects as assigned.Job DutiesConduct research in industry trends related to Hazard Risk and Vulnerability Assessments as well as tabletop and full-scale exercises.Assist in the development and implementation of the City’s four (4)



year emergency planning cycle as required by provincial legislation.Conduct a review of the City’s Emergency Plan and Business Continuity Plan including revision or creation of Annexes and make any updates as required.Develop and curate engaging content specific to emergency management and personal preparedness and safety.Assist with the creation of information templates and educational resources for internal staff and the public.Assist with revisions and updates of any other documentation as required.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications/Minimum RequirementsEducation in an emergency management or similar related program.Ability to perform research and compile analysis.Ability to prioritize tasks.Excellent organizational skills.Self-starter and ability to take initiative, including time management skills.Ability to work as a team and independently with minimal supervision.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Robust written and verbal communication skills.Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License.Students enrolled in a co-operative education program and seeking employment as part of that program.Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.Employees will be required to adhere to the City’s Vaccination Policy.The City of Selkirk is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing an inclusive work environment.Applicants who require accommodation during the hiring process are encouraged to contact the City’s Human Resources Division.#J-18808-Ljbffr
