the Research Coordinator supports the Director and Associate Dean of Research. The coordinator works directly with the Director of Research to support funding administration in the Clinical Trials Office and the CIHR Enrolment Registry and support operational systems and structures with the Office of Research that further the research services vision and support disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross‑sector research activities including large‑scale research activities, and research administration.ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive financial administrative support to the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations.Initiate and process all purchase requisitions, purchase orders (POs), and invoices through SupplyNet, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies.Maintain and reconcile operating, research, and endowment accounts on a regular basis, ensuring general ledgers are accurate and up‑to‑date.Provide comprehensive administrative support for the CIHR Enrolment Registration team, acting as a central coordinator for the grant development process.Coordinate external and internal peer reviews for grant applications. This includes recruiting and liaising with reviewers, organising review meetings and mock presentations, and compiling feedback for applicants.Act as the primary point of contact for researchers with questions or concerns regarding the grant development and review process,
providing timely and accurate information.Prepare, process, and track invoices and billings; follow up on accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) to ensure timely payments and collections.QualificationsUniversity Degree supplemented by 3-5 years of research administration and coordination experience.Proven experience with the tri‑council grant application processes, particularly CIHR, is a strong asset.Training in QuickBooks accounting software and project management is an asset.Familiarity with clinical trial processes, research networks, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is highly desirable.Excellent computer skills including proficiency in use of database, spreadsheet and word processing software.Strong skills with U of A applications are preferred (Google, PeopleSoft, Bear Tracks, ARISE, Alfresco, APS appointment process, etc.).This position is subject to all applicable terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the Governors of the University of Alberta and the Non‑Academic Staff Association (NASA).The University of Alberta acknowledges that we are located on Treaty 6 territory, and respects the histories, languages and cultures of First Nations, Métis, Inuit and all First Peoples of Canada, whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community.At the University of Alberta, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible hiring process for all candidates.
