We are developing a declarative, self-service platform that enables engineers to define, discover, compute, validate, and serve features consistently across both training and real-time inference. Our mission is to eliminate feature duplication, ensure training-serving parity, and provide reliable, scalable, and low-latency feature infrastructure that powers fraud detection, payments, search, personalization, and other mission-critical experiences across eBay. About the RoleWe are seeking aSenior Staff Software Engineerto help shape the architecture and technical direction of eBay's Unified Feature Store. In this role, you will design and build the distributed systems that power feature computation, storage, serving, and lifecycle management at massive scale. Your work will directly improve developer productivity, accelerate AI model delivery, and establish UFS as the single source of truth for feature engineering across eBay.



While familiarity with feature stores, stream processing, and data infrastructure is valuable, your primary focus will be on building the distributed platform itself, solving challenging problems in scalability, consistency, reliability, and low-latency serving. andreliability gapsthrough platform modernization.What You BringBS/MSin Computer Science (or related field) with10+ years(orMS with 8+ years ) buildinglarge-scale distributed systemsorplatform infrastructure.Proven experience designing and operatinghigh-throughput, low-latency, production-grade distributed services.Deep knowledge ofdistributed systems,includingpartitioning, replication, consistency, concurrency, idempotency, backpressure,andfailure recovery.Robust programming skills inJava, Python, Go,or similar languages.Experience buildingplatform services, frameworks, APIs, libraries,orruntime infrastructure.Hands-on expertise withKafka, Flink, SparkandRDBMS/NoSQL.Experience operatingproduction systems,includingobservability, performance tuning, incident response, debugging,andon-call ownership.Ability to make soundarchitectural trade-offsacrosscorrectness, reliability, performance, operability,andcost.Experience designingclean interfaces, backward-compatible migrations,andsafe rollout strategies.Strongtechnical leadership, communication, mentorship,andcross-functional influence.Additional Details This job posting relates to an existing vacancy within eBay. eBay is an equal opportunity employer.
