Faculty/Department: Campus Operations & ServicesHours Per Week: Up to 12Hourly Rate/Range: $28.77 to $38.84About the TeamThe Campus Operations & Services team supports the University of Alberta through a range of essential services and works for operating, maintaining and renewing infrastructure across our campuses.Job DescriptionThis position has a term length of one year.Location -This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.Dispatchers are the first point of contact when calling the University of Alberta Protective Services. They perform a variety of communication and dispatching duties for emergency and non-emergency calls; dispatches UAPS personnel to calls for service; and operates a variety of communications and electronic equipment including radio, telephone, computer, and security and camera monitoring systems. Dispatchers will have their work assigned and overseen by the on duty Sergeant, Patrol Services Division.ResponsibilitiesReceive, evaluate, and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring critical information is gathered and documented for immediate action.Deploy Peace Officers and Security while serving as the primary liaison between campus units and external emergency services (Police, Fire, and EMS).Monitor the real-time status and location of field members to ensure officer safety. Insuring Patrol Services Division,
the Sergeant and the Inspector are informed of all evolving situations.Actively monitor integrated campus security technology, including alarm systems, CCTV networks, and specialized communication tools, to identify and respond to risks.Utilize internal databases to conduct background verifications and provide field personnel with essential intelligence while maintaining high-integrity digital logs of all activities within the CAD system.Provide professional assistance to the university community, resolving complex inquiries, and managing after-hours communications. While disseminating campus-wide emergency advisories when necessary.QualificationsHigh School DiplomaComputer experience with Google applicationsObtain explicit criminal record check with vulnerable sector checkMust be able to work shift work, up to 12 hours per shift, days, evenings and weekendsAccurate and efficient typing skillsPreferred QualificationsEquivalencies with a High School Diploma and three years’ experience will be consideredEmergency Communications & Response CertificateExperience with Omnigo (Report Exec) SoftwareExperience working within a Post-Secondary EnvironmentEmergency or Standard First Aid Certification and Level C CPR with AEDBasic Emergency Management and/or ics 100#J-18808-Ljbffr
