Our Client is a well known Accounting firm in Oakville seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their firm for a 12+ Month contract. The role is full time in the office located in Oakville.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional client service, solving complex financial challenges, and building trusted relationships with clients.
Reporting directly to the Partners, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing client engagements, preparing financial statements and tax returns, supporting assurance engagements, and mentoring junior team members. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business owners, not-for-profit organizations, charities, estates, and individuals while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Compilation Engagement financial statements, including year-end working papers, adjusting journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct and support audit and review engagements through risk assessments, analytical procedures, substantive testing, file documentation, and client inquiries.
- Prepare and review corporate, charity, estate, and personal income tax returns, ensuring compliance with current tax legislation.
- Build and maintain solid client relationships through responsive communication, proactive problem-solving, and exceptional service.
- Provide strategic financial, accounting, and tax advice to clients.
- Stay current on evolving accounting, assurance, and taxation standards and apply changes effectively within client engagements.
- Mentor, coach, and support junior team members while reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and quality.
- Communicate engagement findings, recommendations, and outstanding matters clearly to clients and firm leadership.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and the overall client experience.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years experience POST CPA Ontario designation.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 to 7+ years of public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in public accounting with strong exposure to compilation, review, audit, and tax engagements.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian accounting, assurance, and taxation standards.
- Experience preparing corporate, personal, estate, and charity tax returns.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
- A collaborative mindset and desire to mentor and support team development.
