Elevate your career with Cermaq British Columbia as an Entry-Level Freshwater Hatchery Technician at the Oceans Hatchery near Duncan. This role offers the chance to monitor vital systems and assist in salmon farming operations.
As part of a dedicated team, you will participate in daily hatchery activities such as checking equipment, monitoring oxygen levels, and loading fish. This position features a full time schedule with a rotating 5 days on, 2 days off work format, inclusive of possible overtime. You’ll need to be flexible as shifts may vary based on hatchery needs, including weekend availability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct regular checks on hatchery operations and equipment • Assist staff in transporting and loading fish • Ensure adherence to biosecurity protocols • Work collaboratively with colleagues to solve problems • Be available for on-call alarms and responses
Requirements: • Basic understanding of hatchery procedures and protocols • Quick learner of technical processes • Previous experience in salmon hatchery is a plus • Availability for various shifts, including mornings and nights • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
