The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for planning,



leading, and facilitating a variety of drop-in sports and recreational activities, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and more, during evenings and weekends.Additionally, this role will involve collaborating with our program team to offer diverse activities, including special events like recreation programming at a local park, and taking programming outside to local community basketball courts.Program Planning & DevelopmentDesign, plan, and organize recreational programs for youth, including sports like basketball, soccer, volleyball, and other drop-in activitiesCreate schedules for programs and events, ensuring a variety of activities for different age groups and skill levelsProgram Leadership & FacilitationLead and facilitate recreational activities and sports programs during evenings and weekendsSupervise participants, ensuring a safe and positive environmentProvide instruction and guidance to enhance engagement and skill developmentCommunity Engagement & CollaborationCollaborate with program team members to offer diverse and innovative recreational opportunitiesEvent CoordinationOrganize and manage special events such as recreation programs at local parks and outdoor community basketball gamesCoordinate volunteers, equipment,



and facility useSafety & Risk ManagementEnsure all activities follow safety protocols and guidelinesAddress participant concerns professionally and promptlyProgram Promotion & OutreachPromote programs through social media, flyers, and community outreachFoster an inclusive and welcoming environment for youth of all backgroundsEquipment & Facility ManagementMaintain and organize sports equipment and suppliesCoordinate use of indoor and outdoor program spacesEvaluation & ReportingTrack participation and collect feedbackAssess program success and prepare reports with recommendationsYouth Development & MentorshipPromote teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growthAct as a role model and mentor to youth participantsAdministrative TasksMaintain records of attendance, incidents, and program dataAssist with budgeting and resource allocationYMCA “The Y Way Standards”Acknowledge members waiting for service and provide supportProactively assist members who may need helpFollow the 5/10 Rule for member engagementMaintain clean, safe, and organized workspacesTidy common areas and report unresolved issuesEnsure community rooms are left clean after usePerform other duties as requiredEducation & Skills QualificationsKnowledge in teaching or leadership in one or more areas: Children’s Programming, Events, Recreation, or SportsPost-secondary enrollment (Education, Recreation, Kinesiology, Community Development, or related) is an assetExperience working with children and families in outdoor or community settingsEvent coordination or lesson planning experience is an assetCommunity networking skillsStrong cross-cultural communication skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines and prioritiesStrong attention to detailAccess to reliable transportationFlexibility to work evenings and weekends as neededStrong organizational and multitasking skills#J-18808-Ljbffr
