We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Seamer Machine Operator to join our aluminum window and door manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and operate automated machinery used to seam glass edges and/or permanently crimp and seal aluminum frame corners. You will navigate basic computerized touchscreens (HMI/PLC) to load production orders, verify specifications, and ensure all architectural joints meet strict weatherproofing and structural standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation: Setup, adjust, and operate automated glass edge seamers and hydraulic corner-crimping/seaming machinery.
Computerized Interface (HMI): Access, navigate, and select daily production files using a digital touchscreen terminal and handheld barcode scanners.
Material Alignment: Safely position and feed raw extruded aluminum profiles or heavy glass panels into the machine using physical alignment guides.
Quality Assurance: Use tape measures, calipers, and gauges to verify that finished frame corners are perfectly square (90-degree angles) and structurally sound.
Defect Control: Inspect glass panes for micro-cracks and aluminum seams for gaps, clearing basic on-screen error alerts when material jams or misalignments occur.
Material Handling: Move finished, seamed components safely to the next assembly station or storage racks without scratching or damaging the product surfaces.
Safety & Maintenance: Keep the machinery clean and explicit of metal shaving debris, adhering strictly to all shop safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: Minimum 1 year of machine operation experience in a window, door, glass, or architectural metal fabrication workplace.
Seamer Experience: Proven understanding of material alignment and joint precision (experience with corner crimpers, glass arrissing lines, or structural press brakes is highly valued).
Basic Computer Knowledge: Comfort using basic workplace technology, including industrial digital touchscreens, PLC menus, or automated scanning devices.
Measurement Skills: Solid ability to accurately read a tape measure and comprehend technical fabrication work orders.
Physical Stamina: Able to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and stand for the duration of a standard production shift.
