GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Journeyman Machinist is responsible for independently setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC equipment to fabricate and repair hydraulic components. This role ensures production accuracy, adherence to tight tolerances, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The Journeyman provides guidance to apprentices and collaborates with the broader mechanical team to meet production targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints
· Independently operate and program CNC lathes, mills, and manual machine tools
· Manufacture, repair, and refurbish hydraulic parts including cylinders, shafts, and custom fittings
· Ensure all parts meet dimensional accuracy and quality control specifications
· Collaborate with hydraulic technicians and fabricators to coordinate work and support workflow
· Perform advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of machining equipment
· Train and mentor apprentices as required
· Maintain organized, secure, and clean workspaces in compliance with OH&S; regulations
· Document completed work and maintain detailed production records
REQUIREMENTS:
· Completion of a recognized Journeyperson Machinist certification
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Minimum 5 years experience in machining, including CNC and manual equipment
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Technical Skills:
· Advanced proficiency in manual and CNC machining, including G-code programming
· Expert use of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges)
· Robust blueprint reading and interpretation abilities
· Sound knowledge of hydraulic systems and related mechanical components
· Excellent problem-solving and math skills applicable to machining operations
Position Details:
· Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled indoor shop workplace
· Frequent handling of metal parts and tools; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
· Required use of PPE including safety boots, eyewear, and hearing protection
· Occasional travel to customer or job sites for on-location machining work

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 66.0 per week
