Position Summary
Cambrian College’s Corporate Training department requires a casual part time Instructor to teach within the Mine Hoist Plant Certificate Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position may require travel to deliver training at client locations within Canada and the United States. The Mine Hoist Plant certificate program consists of six, two-day modules that are delivered to employees working in the mining industry.
The successful applicant will teach one or more of the following:
Mine Hoist Plant Overview
Mine Hoist Plant Brakes
Mine Hoist Plant Electrical
Mine Hoist Plant Safety Controllers
Mine Hoist Plant Conveyances
Mine Hoist Plant Ropes and Attachments
Qualifications
Required:
Postsecondary diploma in mining or trades certification as it relates to Mine Hoist operations. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application * education completed outside of Canada,
applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
Ten years of work experience in a mine hoist environment.
Proven ability to provide leadership, to think critically, and to communicate effectively in a skilled manner.
Ability to be an effective role model in the classroom.
Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress.
Possess good organizational skills and sound computer software skills.
Ability to function within a team setting.
Additional Assets/Preferred:
Previous teaching experience at the postsecondary level
