Mechanical Engineer – Residential BuildingsA residential development organization is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of mechanical systems for residential building projects. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external consultants and provides exposure to projects from early design through construction.ResponsibilitiesDesign and support mechanical systems for residential building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systemsPrepare and review mechanical calculations, equipment selections, drawings, schematics, and specificationsSupport the development of design, tender, and construction documentationCoordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplinesParticipate in BIM-based coordination using Revit and support AutoCAD-based documentation as requiredReview shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submissions and provide technical inputParticipate in site reviews and support construction-stage coordination and issue resolutionEnsure designs comply with applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory requirementsSupport project schedules, quality standards, and internal review processesContribute to continuous improvement of design and documentation practicesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentProfessional Engineer (P.Eng)
designation in OntarioSeveral years of experience in mechanical building systems designExperience with HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systemsWorking knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, including OBC, CSA, ASHRAE, and NFPAProficiency with Revit and AutoCADStrong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamAdditional ConsiderationsExperience supporting residential building projects is considered an assetExposure to construction coordination and commissioning activities is an assetAdditional language skills may be considered an assetWhat Is OfferedCompetitive compensation and benefitsOpportunity to work on active residential development projects within a collaborative environmentHealth, Dental and vision care.
