Job Description The Department of Surgery is seeking courtesy surgical assistants for both Etobicoke General and Brampton Civic Hospsital.

Successful candidates will be part of the on-call roster.

There would also be prospects to assist at both sites (both elective and on-call).

Prior surgical assisting experience is preferred but not required.

Excellent communication skills and the desire to contribute in a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care are needed.

Remuneration is fee-for-service supplemented by an on-call stipend when applicable.

Accountabilities: Managing instruments, retracting tissue, suctioning, suturing and cutting sutures Maintains a sterile field and anticipates the surgeons needs throughout the procedure Monitors the patients status and communicates concerns to the surgical team Operates or assists with specialized surgical equipment as needed Qualifications Certificate of Registration to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Prior surgical assisting experience is preferred but not a requirement Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are considered an asset as we serve a highly diverse population)
