Empower students at KO Communities as a Community Based Education Special Education Resource Teacher. Foster inclusive learning and support holistic development through tailored programming.
As a Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT), your role will encompass delivering individual and group educational support tailored to the unique cultural context of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak schools. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) while actively engaging students in extracurricular programs that promote well-being. Collaboration with various stakeholders is vital to fostering student retention and success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide culturally responsive instructional support • Lead IEP development and educational assessments • Coordinate access to essential secondary services • Support student transitions from elementary to secondary education • Foster communication with parents and community organizations
Requirements: • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree • Positive standing with Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in Indigenous contexts • Special Education Qualifications preferred • Knowledge of local Indigenous languages is a plus
