Application Deadline: 04/26/2026Address: 525 8th Ave SW East TowerJob Family Group: Capital Markets Sales & ServiceReporting to the Managing Director and Head, A&D; Advisory, within the BMO Capital Markets Investment Banking Energy Group, theAssociate, Investment Banking (A&D;)role is responsible for completing, coordinating, and leading detailed financial and technical analysis, including the integration of engineering, geological, and financial information. The role focuses on divestiture, acquisition, and merger mandates.Key AccountabilitiesOperate as a key member of the deal team with efforts to maximize sector penetration and returns.Lead execution of technical evaluations, economic performance analysis, reservoir and asset descriptions, upside identification, and other interpretation‑related outputs.Maintain performance in a high‑velocity environment with growing business development and project execution responsibilities.Play a critical role in coverage material design and marketing document design (teasers, management presentations, etc.).Opportunity to grow to manage a diverse portfolio of private and middle market companies with progression toward increasing client responsibility.Conduct due diligence, including client visits, analyzing business models, and reviewing industry trends and regulations.Collaborate with sector coverage partners to identify and deliver creative,



timely solutions.Provide deal expertise and oversee delivery of analytically driven pitch materials.Maintain key ongoing coverage contact with clients and sector stakeholders.Identify and engage key decision makers and influencers in client/internal organizations.Stay aware of all firm products and services and update continuously.Assist in developing strategic plans and support execution of initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.Coordinate with the investment banking coverage team to support deal completion.Create and diagnose financial models to analyze opportunities as dictated by business needs.Apply appropriate technical concepts and lead consistent, reliable technical and financial analysis.Understand transaction complexity and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance).Balance the bank’s risk appetite with client needs when making recommendations.Integrate information from multiple sources for efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and streamlined reporting.Mentor, review, and guide the work of analysts.Consider risk, internal controls, and compliance in day‑to‑day accountabilities.Work independently and adaptively handle non‑routine situations.QualificationsTypically 4–7 years of relevant experience with a post‑secondary degree in a related field or equivalent.Undergraduate degree required; engineering or geoscience preferred with high academic achievement.Direct investment banking experience in A&D;,



client coverage, negotiation, and structuring is a differentiator.CFA or equivalent recognized.Relevant energy sector experience and business development understanding.History of energy deal execution and/or project management skills.Experience in exploiting and evaluating resource oil and gas plays or heavy oil/thermal operations.Broad understanding of the North American upstream energy landscape.Reservoir technical experience and ability to apply economic evaluation principles (production performance, decline analysis, type‑curve, inventory analysis, development planning).Experience with reserve software (Val‑Nav preferred).Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills with complex financial modeling.Familiarity with analytics packages (Enverus, Spotfire).Programming experience supporting automation and data analytics (Python, R, VBA) is a strong asset.Experience with automated play forecasting, auto‑decline algorithms, and data science in reservoir engineering workflows.The base salary for this position is $135,000. Compensation may include a commission structure and extra benefits such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings.
