Summary :

TheDatabaseAdministrator(DBA)isresponsibleforprovidingoperationalsupport,administration,maintenance,monitoring,andoptimizationofdatabaseenvironmentssupportingcriticalMinistryapplicationsandservices.Theroleensurestheavailability,integrity,security,recoverability,andperformanceofdatabasesacrossmultipletechnologyplatforms,includingMicrosoftSQLServer,IBMDB2,andOracleenvironments.

TheDBAworkscloselywithapplicationsupportteams,infrastructureteams,developers,vendors,andprojectstakeholderstosupportbothlegacyandmodernizedenterprisesystemsinhighlyavailableandmission-criticalenvironments.

Collaboratesondefiningtheproduct’sdataarchitecture

Workscloselywithdataanalysts,dataengineers,datascientiststobridgethegapsbetweendatascience,dataengineeringandproductreporting

Responsibletoensuredataisusedeffectivelyinproductdecisionmaking

Providesoversightondatarequirementsanditsimplementation

HelpsdefinethedataproductmetricandKPIsalignedwithbusinessgoalsandobjectives

KeyResponsibilities :

OperationalDatabaseSupport:

Provideday-to-dayoperationalsupportforMinistryapplicationsandassociateddatabaseenvironments.

Monitordatabasehealth,availability,performance,storageutilization,andsystemreliability.

Performproactivetroubleshootingandresolutionofdatabase-relatedincidentsandservicerequests.

Supportproduction,test,development,disasterrecovery,andhigh-availabilityenvironments.

Participateinon-callsupport,after-hoursmaintenance,andemergencyincidentresolutionasrequired.

DatabaseAdministration&Maintenance;:

Administer,configure,patch,upgrade,andmaintaindatabaseplatformsincluding:

MicrosoftSQLServer

IBMDB2(z/OSandWindows/Linux)

Performdatabaseinstallations,migrations,refreshes,cloning,andenvironmentsetupactivities.

Maintainbackup,recovery,anddisasterrecoveryprocedurestoensurebusinesscontinuity.

Managedatabasesecurity,useraccess,roles,permissions,encryption,andcompliancerequirements.

Conductdatabasecapacityplanningandstoragemanagementactivities.

PerformanceMonitoring&Optimization;:

Analyzeandtunedatabaseperformance,queries,indexes,executionplans,andsystemresources.

Identifyandresolvebottlenecksaffectingapplicationperformanceandstability.

Implementmonitoringandalertingsolutionstoproactivelymanagesystemhealth.

Supporthigh-availabilitytechnologiesincludingclustering,failover,andreplicationsolutions.

Change,Release&EnvironmentManagement;:

Supportchangemanagement,deployment,andreleaseactivitiesfollowingMinistrystandardsandITILpractices.

Coordinatedatabasechangeswithinfrastructure,application,andvendorteams.





Developandmaintainoperationaldocumentation,procedures,runbooks,andsupportknowledgearticles.

Participateintechnicalreviews,rootcauseanalysis,andpost-incidentactivities.

Project&ModernizationSupport;:

Providetechnicalexpertiseforapplicationmodernization,migration,andinfrastructureupgradeinitiatives.

Supportcloud,virtualization,andhybridinfrastructureinitiativeswhereapplicable.

Collaboratewithdevelopmentandarchitectureteamsondatabasedesignandimplementationstrategies.

Assistwithtechnologylifecyclemanagementandplatformupgradeplanning.

RequiredSkills&Experience;:

ExperienceadministeringenterprisedatabaseenvironmentsincludingSQLServer,Oracle,and/orDB2.

Strongknowledgeofdatabasebackup/recovery,performancetuning,monitoring,andtroubleshooting.

Experiencesupportinghigh-availabilityanddisasterrecoverysolutions.

KnowledgeofWindowsServer,Linux(RHEL),and/orMainframeenvironments.

Experiencewithdatabasesecurity,accesscontrols,andoperationalbestpractices.

FamiliaritywithITILprocesses,incidentmanagement,changemanagement,andreleasemanagement.

Stronganalytical,problem-solving,andcommunicationskills.

Abilitytoworkindependentlyandcollaborativelywithincross-functionalteams.

Requirements

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

Must Haves:

Experience in designing and implementing REST API integrations and best practices

SQL Server Administration — strong hands-on experience with SQL Server 2019, 2022 and 2025

Multi-DBMS Experience — must have hands-on experience with at least one of: Oracle 19c, DB2/Windows, or DB2/zOS

Nice to Have:





Performance Tuning — ability to diagnose and optimize queries, indexes, and server performance

Backup & Recovery — robust understanding of HA/DR strategies and implementation
