Water Resources Engineer / ModelerBrampton, ONEXP’s Water Resources Group is currently seeking a Hydraulic Modeler to support surface water projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The successful candidate will join a growing team of modelers who support land/commercial development, transit drainage, I&I; studies, and floodplain mapping clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with similar project work in the GTA.ResponsibilitiesLead the development and application of hydrologic and hydraulic models (e.G., HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, MIKE, InfoWorks).Conduct floodplain mapping, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.Analyze surface water systems including rivers, streams, and urban drainage networks.Interpret and present modeling results to stakeholders, clients, and regulatory agencies.Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations.Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence across projects.Collaborate with GIS specialists, engineers, and planners to integrate modeling with spatial analysis and infrastructure design.Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.Write proposals and support the team during proposal preparation.QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology,
and/or water resources.Minimum of 5‑10 years of professional experience in water resources modeling.Proficiency in industry‑standard modeling software (e.G., HEC‑RAS 2D, HEC‑HMS, SWMM, MIKE, InfoWorks ICM).Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, floodplain management, and stormwater systems.Experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data integration.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is preferred.Preferred SkillsFamiliarity with provincial and federal water management regulations.Experience working with municipalities, conservation authorities, or government agencies.Experience with climate change impact assessments and resiliency planning.Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Python, MATLAB) for model enhancement.The salary range for this role is between $90K—$125K.
