Description The Advisor, Environment & Regulatory role within the Transportation Business Unit (TBU) is responsible for supporting regulatory and environmental compliance requirements associated with pipeline and facility operations, integrity programs, maintenance activities, and capital projects.
This role ensures regulatory and environmental obligations are met through effective planning, coordination, reporting, compliance tracking, and stakeholder engagement.
The position provides regulatory and environmental support to business units by coordinating regulatory applications, submissions, approvals, compliance reporting, audits and inspections, incident reporting, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) requirements, environmental compliance activities, and waste management programs.
The role works closely with Operations, Integrity, Engineering, Environmental, Land, and Project teams to support safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining regulatory and environmental compliance programs, supporting operational and project activities, managing compliance commitments and reporting obligations, and building positive relationships with regulators and stakeholders.
Key Activities and Responsibilities Coordinate the preparation, submission, and management of regulatory applications, approvals, notifications, exemptions, consultations, and compliance filings for operational, integrity, and project activities.
Provide regulatory support and guidance to Operations, Integrity, Engineering, Environmental, and Project teams to ensure regulatory requirements and commitments are understood and met.
Manage annual compliance reporting requirements, regulatory submissions, and recurring regulatory obligations, including Directive 067, E2 reporting, and other federal and provincial compliance programs.
Coordinate and support Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) program requirements, including regulatory filings,
site certifications, compliance monitoring, and training coordination.
Manage and maintain regulatory accounts, reporting systems, compliance records, and regulatory documentation.
Coordinate and support regulatory audits, inspections, incident investigations, regulator inquiries, corrective actions, and audit readiness activities.
Coordinate regulatory and environmental incident reporting, notifications, and compliance requirements, including administration and support of Enablon processes and systems.
Assist Operations and Environmental teams in planning, implementation, and assessment of environmental programs, priorities, and compliance initiatives.
Coordinate environmental reporting, environmental compliance activities, and regulatory obligations associated with air emissions, waste management, contaminated sites, spills, releases, and other environmental programs.
Maintain environmental procedures, compliance records, tracking systems, and regulatory documentation.
Develop and maintain compliance tracking systems, regulatory calendars, permit conditions, commitments, and reporting schedules to ensure regulatory and environmental obligations are met.
Monitor regulatory developments and emerging requirements, and assist in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of regulatory and environmental procedures, processes, and compliance programs.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with regulators, industry associations, consultants, and internal stakeholders to support safe, responsible, and compliant operations.
Education, Skills and Experience Post-secondary education in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field. 5+ years of regulatory and/or environmental compliance experience in the energy industry.
Experience with regulatory applications, approvals, compliance reporting, audits, and inspections.
Experience supporting environmental compliance programs, waste management, and incident reporting.
Knowledge of AER, CER, environmental, and other regulatory requirements applicable to pipeline operations.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and compliance management systems.
