This role is responsible for regulatory compliance, utility performance, capital planning, financial oversight, and the delivery of specialized programs aligned with industry best practices and the Town’s Climate Action and sustainability objectives.This position provides direct supervision to employees and contractors delivering Town-led capital projects and operational programs and represents the Town in dealings with regulators, consultants, and stakeholders.Leadership & Corporate AlignmentModels and promotes the Town of Canmore’s core values: Wellness, Respect, Integrity, Service, and TeamworkActs as a role model, mentor, and leader for staff, fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplaceChampions the Town’s culture, REDI commitments, and change initiativesLeads with professionalism, accountability, and sound judgmentOperational & Technical LeadershipProvides technical leadership and oversight for water and wastewater treatment facilities and linear infrastructureEnsures compliance with all applicable municipal, provincial, and federal legislation and approvalsResearches, recommends, and implements best practices, technologies, and innovations to improve performance and sustainabilityOversees contract administration and ensures obligations, service levels, and performance standards are metSupports and maintains the Town’s asset management program, including data quality and reportingCapital Planning & Project DeliveryLeads and represents the Town’s interests through planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater capital projects within approved governance and budget frameworksPrepares and evaluates RFPs, tender packages, and consultant proposalsManages documentation control and reporting for capital projectsSupports development and implementation of the annual capital planProvides professional advice, analysis, and reporting to senior administration and CouncilFinancial & Utility ManagementLeads or supports the development and monitoring of annual operating budgets, rate models, and long-term financial projectionsTracks expenditures, provides financial analysis, and reports on utility performanceEnsures sound stewardship of public funds and resourcesCustomer Service & Stakeholder RelationsBuilds strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, regulators, consultants, and contractorsResponds to inquiries and concerns professionally, accurately,

or Water & Wastewater Engineering or Technologist from an accredited Canadian university or equivalentProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in positive standing, licensed to practice in AlbertaValid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s LicenseMinimum of five (5) years for P.
