Instructional Assistant, Hairstyling Term Dates: September 1, 2026 to December 24, 2026 Rate of Pay: $30.35 to $40.19 per hour Location: 130 Henlow Campus Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (30 hours/week) Reporting to the Dean, Skilled Trades, Services, and Applied Technologies and Principal, the Instructional Assistant, Hairstyling is responsible for providing instructional support to students under the general direction of the MITT Faculty.
The IAs role is to facilitate the inclusion of students and assist them in becoming independent learners and members of the classroom, school, and community.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide effective support for students under faculty and management direction;Reinforce content provided by faculty;Advocate for student needs and supports for their success;Assist and monitor students in the development of their theoretical and practical skills;Support student progress in blended learning and/or online courses;Assist in review and reinforcement of program materials assigned by faculty.
Support faculty in the blended/online classroom environment.
Support faculty in hands-on learning in the skilled trades shops.
Under the direction of the faculty, prepare classrooms and program equipment for before and after use.
Under the direction of the faculty, order supplies to support MITT program delivery.
Meet standards of qualified and ethical conduct in relation to students, families and colleagues.
Follow guidelines and requirements to protect the safety and well-being of students.
Assist in enforcing school and classroom policies to students.
Foster a co-operative, respectful working relationship with faculty and an understanding of the parameters of the responsibilities of an IA.
Required Qualifications and Experience: A combination of related education and experience may be considered.
Grade 12 diploma Related experience in the program field(s) Using online learning tools, preferably D2L Bright
Space Strong communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Able to multitask Able to use computer technology efficiently Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an IA is an asset Experience with Microsoft Office is considered an asset Experience in supporting high school learners through student evaluation and reinforcement of classroom management is considered an asset Intercultural communication skills An eligibility list may be created for similar positions.
Developmental opportunities may be available for candidates who do not meet all of the requirements of the position.
