This position is responsible for the competent performance of and a strong commitment to a range of clerical and clinical activities that contribute to the clinical work in a patient medical home setting. Requires advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices, and initiatives within the department. This position will coordinate with and provide high-level administrative support and be responsible for scanning medical documents, electronically attaching, and filing them to the patient EHR, documenting in the patient EHR, obtaining appropriate clinical documents, booking tests and procedures, and communicating with a range of health-related personnel and with patients. Will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, obtaining demographic and health information and entering the information into the EHR. Using the EHR will track, follow up and initiate action with patients for missed appointments, no-show appointments, and cancellations as per clinic policy. Receive and direct all incoming calls, handles inquiries, chart requests, takes and relays accurate messages, assist in facilitating smooth area communications. Greets patients and visitors and directs them to the appropriate area. The position entails triaging incoming clinic faxes, coordinating specialist referrals, ensuring patients are booked and informed. The clinical expectations include, obtain, and record vital signs, perform patient diagnostic testing, prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for physician visits, assist with patient movement within the clinic.

Required Qualifications:




Some post-secondary education.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education in medical office assistant (MOA). MOA Certificate required. 3 - 5 years of recent MOA, reception, and Central Referrals experience in a Primary Care Clinic. 3 - 5 years of recent experience with Med Access Electronic Health Record (EHR), Netcare and Right fax. Ability to work Day and Evening shifts. Ability to assist with patient mobility transfers. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Ability to provide leadership in a team environment. Robust work ethic, self-motivated, innovative and ability to work independently. Ability to effect change, support change management. Exceptional attention to detail. Ability to contribute to a positive work environment. Demonstrate communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality with all aspects of information in accordance with practice, Provincial and Federal regulations. Ability to work with multiple, changing priorities, and effectively manage time. Knowledge of Primary Care Networks (PCN's). Demonstrated ability to work in a high intensity environment. Excellent communication skills in both verbal and writing with Physicians/Learners/Clinic Staff/Allied Health Team. Participate in clinic, department and PCN research projects and committees.
