The Public Works department is seeking Spare Winter Equipment Operators at various locations including Sydney River and Bras d’Or. This role includes paid training followed by plowing practice for effective operation of snow removal equipment. Work hours are called in based on operational needs, with optional participation in the Winter Wage Guarantee.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate snowplows, graders, and loaders safely
• Perform general equipment maintenance and inspections
• Complete daily logs and inspection reports
• Maintain road signs, surfaces, and traffic control
• Ensure safe performance in varying weather conditions
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
• Class III license with air brake endorsement
• Solid reading and writing skills for documentation
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems is beneficial
• Flexibility and customer service orientation
