Hourly Rate: $22.27 - $27.89. Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Research assistant with background in product design and prototype will support the development of high‑fidelity cardiovascular phantoms and experimental models used for medical imaging research, education, and competency assessment. This role integrates biomedical design, CAD modeling, and manufacturing techniques to produce anatomically accurate and reproducible cardiovascular structures. The assistant will collaborate closely with imaging scientists, engineers, sonographers, and trainees to translate anatomical data and experimental requirements into manufacturable designs.

How you'll contribute
Model Design
Adapt anatomically accurate cardiovascular geometries (heart chambers, valves, vessels) using medical imaging data and experimental specifications.

CAD Modeling & Digital Workflow Development
Create and refine CAD models using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent platforms.
Prepare files for manufacturing, including mold design, tolerancing, and assembly planning.

3D Printing & Fabrication




Generate 3D printing files and supervise 3D Printing production.
Generate casting and assembly of silicone or multi material components.
Ensure reproducibility and quality control.

Documentation, Collaboration & Quality Assurance
Maintain detailed fabrication protocols, version control, and design documentation.
Collaborate with imaging researchers to ensure compatibility with ultrasound.

Qualifications
Experience
Previous experience (6 months to an year) in CAD modeling, 3D printing, Product Development and Prototyping.

Education
Diploma in Healthcare, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design or Manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Biomedical Engineering is preferred.

Capabilities
Background in product design and image processing, previous experience in CAD modeling, 3D printing or prototype production.
Experience with silicon casting, mold design or soft-material prototyping is considered an asset.
Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
