Senior Terminal Operator
Pay Rate: C$40 - C$45/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 15 months
Location: Calgary, AB T2C 4K9
Overview
Perform activities related to the receipt and shipping of all products and additives at the site. Perform functions relating to site operations, ensuring the reliability of equipment and the supply/delivery system. Operate, maintain and repair site facilities in a safe, effective, cost effective and environmentally sound manner. Participate in activities which contribute to site safety and security, environmental protection, quality and business controls, in a manner consistent with the principals of operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Performs duties relative to the maintenance, repair and operation of the facility. May be required to assist maintenance personnel with repairs to electrical and mechanical equipment on the systems.
Participates in after-hours callout to troubleshoot as the need arises and for operational and mechanical issues and emergency response.
Assists and supports the Site Manager by participating in assessments, inspections, and initiatives as required.
Assists with the completion of all sites assigned tasks in compliance with PDM procedures.
Provides direction, training and mentoring to junior employees and contractors
Responds to breakdown and equipment failures as required
Contributes to budget preparation and cost reporting
Supports site management in assessing staffing requirements based on experience and forecasted demands.
Demonstrates the ability to perform and coordinate functions related to:
Rail Operations (safety sensitive)
Marine Operations (safety sensitive)
Pipeline Receipts (safety sensitive)
Lube Operations
Weigh scale Operations
Truck Operations
Tank Farm Operations
Aviation Operations
Technical Journey Entry Level applicable for Terminal operations
Operate and maintain all facets of measurement systems, subject to Company procedures. (meters, weigh scales, gauging, injector)
Comply with all health and safety and regulatory legislation.
Participate in scheduled operations and safety meetings
Comply with all controls standards and procedures
Conduct all site business with the mindset of safety and ensure 100% compliance with the documented operating and administrative procedures outlined in the PDM and participation in all elements of the Loss Prevention System.
Work with other Company departments as required, assisting with operational and maintenance activities.
Act as a member of the Site Emergency Response Team
Support the mandates of both the Product Quality and Supply groups for the purposes of maintaining superior product quality and the efficient management and resolution of supply issues.
Manages and coordinates contractors and drivers with respect to safety, orientation and compliance
Manages and coordinates contractors and drivers with respect to safety, orientation and compliance
Acts as main contact/liaison between the Control Centre, the TOU and site operations
Interfaces directly with the measurement specialist, ISU, and third-party personnel for inventory management and measurement
Manages and coordinates site managed projects
Witnesses meter proving as per schedule and PDM procedures. Completes documentation as required.
Assists with mechanical and operational activities as required.
Recommends upgrades and adjustments to maintenance plans
Flawless execution of the work permitting process
Directs the work of contractors. Ensures all work is performed in compliance with IOL/industry safety and regulatory standards.
Identifies requirements for upgrades to the PDM
Keeps accurate records of all associated documentation and correspondence related to terminal operations.
Qualifications
Red Seal Electrician, Instrumentation Technician or Millwright certification preferred.
Basic computer skills including Excel and Word.
Excellent understanding of product quality requirements
Secondary/ High School Diploma or college level degree or equivalent work experience required
Experience as a Terminal Operator
Extensive knowledge of the applicable rules, regulations and standards for the operation
Excellent interpersonal skills
Works independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates leadership skills
Valid Driver’s License
Excellent mechanical aptitude.
