Position: Instructional Designer

Your area of focus.
As an Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and continuously improving learning experiences that support AutoCanada’s strategic priorities and the needs of our dealerships and corporate teams.
You will partner with subject matter experts, business leaders, and Learning & Development colleagues to translate business and performance needs into practical learning solutions. This role will have a strong focus on digital learning, blended learning, instructional design, performance support, and learner engagement.
The ideal candidate is both a strong instructional designer and a creative problem solver who understands that effective learning is about more than training—it’s about helping people perform better.
Major Job Functions
Conduct learning needs and performance analyses and translate business needs into effective learning solutions.
Design and develop engaging, learner-centered solutions using adult learning principles, ADDIE, and other instructional design methodologies.
Develop blended learning solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led and virtual training, microlearning, job aids, assessments, and performance support.
Create storyboards, scripts, learning activities, assessments, and other instructional materials, ensuring content is accurate, practical, accessible, and aligned to performance outcomes.
Design and develop interactive digital learning using tools such as Articulate Storyline, incorporating multimedia, scenarios, simulations, and other engaging interactions.
Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, and operational teams to understand performance challenges, recommend appropriate solutions, and translate complex information into effective learning experiences.
Support learning technology and LMS initiatives and leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to improve learning effectiveness and scalability.
Manage multiple learning projects from analysis through launch, including timelines, stakeholder reviews, revisions, quality assurance, documentation, and version control.
Evaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback, assessments, participation data, and business outcomes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or a related discipline
3-5+ years of instructional design or learning development experience
Experience designing and developing eLearning and blended learning solutions
Experience with Articulate Storyline/Rise or similar authoring tools
Experience conducting needs analysis and partnering with SMEs and business stakeholders
Experience managing multiple learning projects from design through implementation
Experience developing assessments, job aids, facilitator guides, and performance support
Experience working with an LMS and learning technologies
Master’s degree, CTDP, CPLP, or related certification considered an asset
Experience in automotive, sales, service, operations, or a multi-location organization considered an asset
Working Conditions
Hybrid/remote flexibility, as applicable
Primarily computer-based work in an office or virtual environment
Frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts
Occasional travel to dealerships, corporate locations, or training events
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
