**Job Title: Lab Assistant**
**Job Description**
The Lab Material Handler / Lab Support Technician supports a team of microbiologists by ensuring the laboratory is clean, organized, and fully stocked in accordance with GMP standards.

This role focuses on cleaning and maintaining lab equipment and spaces, preparing test tools and materials, and accurately tracking inventory using Excel and RF scanning tools.

The position requires regular lifting and movement of materials and plays a critical part in keeping laboratory operations running smoothly and efficiently.
**Responsibilities**
Support a team of microbiologists by maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment in line with GMP standards.

Clean laboratory instruments, benches, and work areas continuously to meet sterility and cleanliness requirements.

Disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment such as refrigerators and incubators as needed to support routine lab operations.

Prepare test tools and materials, including gathering beakers, tools, and other supplies from inventory for scheduled testing.

Receive products and raw materials into inventory using established procedures, spending approximately four hours per day on receiving activities.

Use an RF scanner to log and track incoming materials and ensure accurate recording of inventory movements.

Perform data entry and basic tracking in Excel, including scanning inventory into cells and maintaining up-to-date records of materials going in and out of inventory.

Move and stock equipment, supplies, and materials within the lab using carts and other material handling tools.
**Essential Skills**
At least 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment, such as lab cleaning, sterilization, or material handling.

Hands-on experience with laboratory cleaning and sterilization practices in support of scientific or testing activities.

Experience handling inventory in a lab or similar environment, including receiving, stocking, and tracking materials.

Strong attention to detail to maintain accurate records, follow procedures, and uphold GMP and cleanliness standards.

Schooling in biology or microbiology, which can support understanding of lab processes and offer potential advancement opportunities.

Familiarity with RF scanners or similar handheld devices for tracking materials (training provided if no prior experience).

**Work Environment**
This is an onsite role in a pharmaceutical GMP laboratory setting, working closely with approximately 20 colleagues per shift.

The standard schedule is an afternoon shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with potential training on a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for a total of 37.5 hours per week.

The work involves regular movement around the lab, use of carts and RF scanners to handle and track materials, and adherence to GMP cleanliness and safety standards.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, ON.
**Pay and Advantages**
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Cambridge,ON.
