**Job Title: Forklift Operator**
**Job Description**
The Forklift Operator works in a modern distribution center supporting construction industry customers across eastern Canada.

The role focuses on breaking down and sorting pallets, handling incoming and outgoing shipments, and performing order picking as needed.

You operate a reach truck for the majority of your shift while also completing general labor tasks such as lifting, organizing, and counting inventory.

This position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with physical work, and safe, efficient operation of material handling equipment.
**Responsibilities**
Operate a reach truck safely and efficiently for approximately 60% of the shift to move, stack, and organize pallets and materials within the warehouse.

Break down and sort pallets in the receiving area, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations and prepared for storage or distribution.

Perform general labor tasks for approximately 40% of the shift, including lifting, moving, and organizing products and materials up to 50 lbs.

Carry out order picking tasks when receiving volume is low, selecting items accurately according to pick lists and preparing orders for shipment.

Count incoming and outgoing shipments with a high level of accuracy, verifying quantities against documentation and reporting discrepancies promptly.

Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to warehouse safety procedures.

Participate in orientation and ongoing safety training to maintain up-to-date knowledge of building protocols and safe work practices.

Work collaboratively with warehouse team members and front office staff to support smooth daily operations and meet productivity targets.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, including pallets, aisles, and common spaces such as the lunchroom and equipment areas.

Use attention to detail when handling inventory to minimize errors, prevent product damage, and support accurate stock management.
**Essential Skills**
Proven ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis in a warehouse environment.

Valid external reach truck license, with demonstrated experience operating a reach truck safely and efficiently.

Previous warehouse experience driving a reach truck in a busy distribution or logistics setting.

Strong attention to detail when counting and verifying incoming and outgoing shipments.

Ability to perform general labor duties, including pallet breakdown, sorting, lifting, and order picking.

Commitment to following health and safety protocols and working safely around material handling equipment.

Reliability in adhering to scheduled hours, including early morning or daytime shifts.

Experience in general warehouse labor such as lifting, order picking, and pallet handling.

Comfort working in a fast-paced distribution center with a focus on productivity and accuracy.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team of warehouse and office staff.

**Work Environment**
You work in a large, well-lit, state-of-the-art warehouse with a team of about 30 people, including warehouse staff and a few front office employees.

The facility features a modern layout, a large lunchroom, and an on-site gym, providing a comfortable and well-equipped setting for your workday.

Steel-toe footwear is required, and safety vests and masks are provided to support safe operations.

Shifts typically run from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., depending on scheduling needs.

On your first day, you complete an orientation that covers the building, protocols, and safety measures, along with health and safety training, and you receive your safety vest before starting work on the floor.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mississauga, ON.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
