We’re hiring – Trainee Fire & Security Installation Engineers
Are you practical, hands‑on and interested in how technology, control equipment and safety systems work?

At T H White Energy, Fire & Security , we’re looking for a Trainee Fire & Security Installation Engineers to join our growing team based in Devizes .

Role
You don’t need to already be an experienced fire and security engineer. We’re keen to hear from people currently working in related hands‑on technical roles, such as:

PAT testing

Photocopier or printer engineering

Telecoms / telephone systems

Air conditioning

Electrical or mechanical support

Appliance repair

Field service or equipment installation

If you enjoy working with tools, solving practical problems, learning new technology, and developing skills in cabling, installation, programming, testing and commissioning, this could be a great opportunity to build a long‑term career in the fire and security industry.

Full training will be provided for the right person, with the opportunity to develop into a qualified installation engineer working on fire alarms, intruder alarms, access control and IP video systems.

Hours
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Paid overtime (including travel time). Call out rota (once qualified).

Key Duties Will Include

Support the installation, commissioning and testing of fire, intruder, IP video surveillance, and access control systems for clients, working alongside experienced engineers and supervisors while developing competence with products such as Hikvision, Avigilon, Ajax Intruder, Paxton Access Control, and Gent, Advanced, or Ajax Wireless Fire Systems.

This trainee role is intended for a practical,



hands‑on person who may already be working in a related technical or trade environment, such as PAT testing, photocopier engineering, telecoms, air conditioning, electrical support, mechanical installation, or another role involving equipment installation, fault finding, testing, planning or customer‑site work.

This Role Will

Assist with the installation, commissioning and testing of fire and security systems, from small standalone systems to larger integrated solutions, under appropriate supervision.

Develop practical competence in cabling, containment, device installation, termination, configuration, programming and system testing.

Learn to interpret drawings, installation plans, wiring diagrams and commissioning information, asking for guidance where required.

Build knowledge of industry standards, product requirements, customer‑site expectations and company procedures.

Accurately record work completed, test results, site observations and follow‑up actions in accordance with company quality procedures.

Work safely and professionally on customer sites, demonstrating good housekeeping, care for equipment, and respect for customers, colleagues and other contractors.

Carry out work safely and professionally in line with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards, including adherence to RAMS, PPE requirements, safe working practices, effective waste segregation, and the prompt reporting of any hazards, near misses,



or environmental incidents.

Support continuous improvement by contributing to initiatives that enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and environmental performance across all fire and security system installation and commissioning tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

CSCS / ECS card – will be provided

PASMA / IPAF– will be provided

Required Experience

Previous fire and security experience is beneficial but not essential; full training will be provided for the right person.

Experience in a related hands‑on technical role would be welcomed, for example PAT testing, photocopier engineering, telecoms or telephone systems, air conditioning, electrical support, mechanical installation, appliance repair, field service, or similar equipment‑based work.

Candidates should be comfortable using tools, working with equipment, following instructions and developing knowledge of control equipment, configuration, planning, programming and testing.
