A Day in the Life of an NG9-1-1 Consultant at Esri Canada:
- Lead assigned NG9-1-1 Public Safety workstreams within consulting projects, including requirements analysis, GIS readiness assessments, solution definition, implementation planning, and operational support activities.
- Facilitate client workshops, meetings, and working sessions to elicit, analyze, and validate business, operational, functional, and GIS data requirements.
- Translate client business needs, operational processes, GIS data quality findings, and technical requirements into practical solution approaches aligned with Esri technology and NG9-1-1 implementation needs.
- Collaborate with project managers, solution architects, technical specialists, and internal Public Safety stakeholders to support integrated solution design, data validation, issue tracking, user review, and delivery follow-up activities.
- Identify GIS data readiness risks, workflow dependencies, data gaps, and implementation issues, and support mitigation actions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to project documentation, estimates, statements of work, delivery plans, demonstrations, proposals, and client presentations related to NG9-1-1 and Public Safety engagements.
- Manage assigned project activities independently, ensuring alignment with defined scope, timelines, quality standards, and client expectations.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of NG9-1-1 delivery documentation, templates, methods, and reusable project materials.
What you bring to the team:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, Public Safety, or related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting, business analysis,
or solution delivery within Public Safety, municipal, or related domains.
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to client-facing implementation projects, including requirements analysis, solution design, and delivery planning.
- Experience applying domain knowledge in areas such as municipal address management, municipal planning processes, emergency management, and NG9-1-1 to support solution development.
- Experience interpreting operational processes and translating business and technical requirements into scalable solution approaches within enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret client requirements, NG9-1-1 GIS data readiness needs, data quality findings, and NG9-1-1 operational requirements and translate them into practical, scalable solution approaches.
- Proven ability to support client engagements and influence stakeholders across municipal, public safety, GIS, business, and technical domains.
- Robust analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills applied to GIS data readiness, workflow, business, and technology challenges.
- Demonstrated capability to identify GIS data quality issues, readiness gaps, risks, dependencies, and solution gaps and support practical mitigation actions.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining delivery quality across multiple engagements.
- Effective written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation communication skills, including the ability to prepare client-facing documentation, findings, recommendations, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid understanding of enterprise GIS solution delivery, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, web applications, mobile applications, data validation, and solution design principles.
- Bilingual proficiency (English / French) is considered an asset.
