Role Description
The Clinical Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role based in Bowmanville, ON. This position is responsible for providing protected, accurate, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care, including reviewing and verifying prescriptions, assessing medication therapies, and counseling patients on proper use, side effects, and interactions. The Clinical Pharmacist will collaborate with prescribers and other health care providers to optimize treatment plans, support chronic disease management, and promote adherence to therapy. Daily responsibilities include overseeing dispensing activities, ensuring regulatory and company policy compliance, supervising pharmacy team members, and maintaining accurate documentation and records.
The role also involves participating in clinical services, such as medication reviews, immunizations (where permitted), and health promotion initiatives within the community pharmacy setting.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy operations, including dispensing, verification, and patient counseling.
Candidates should demonstrate expertise in Pharmaceutical Care and Medicine, with the ability to assess and optimize medication therapy for diverse patient populations.
Candidates should have proficiency in Compounding, including preparation of customized medications in accordance with standards and safety requirements.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
Candidates should exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced retail pharmacy environment, demonstrating teamwork, adaptability, and sound clinical judgment.
Experience with pharmacy management systems, clinical documentation, and current Ontario and federal pharmacy regulations is an asset.
Previous experience in community or clinical pharmacy, and training in immunization administration or specialized clinical services, is considered beneficial.
