Our Mobile Outreach Department is looking for a dedicated Youth Diversion Case Worker to join the team.

Position Responsibilities
The Youth Diversion Case Worker leads the coordination and delivery of the Diversion First Project, a collaborative initiative designed to increase the use and effectiveness of out-of-court measures for youth involved in less serious offences. Working closely with the Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS), justice partners, schools, Indigenous organizations, and community service providers, the Youth Diversion Case Worker will facilitate timely access to restorative, strengths-based, and community-driven interventions that promote accountability, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration.

This role plays a key part in reducing youth justice system involvement by connecting young people to meaningful supports that address underlying needs and build long-term resilience.

Act as the primary intake and referral contact for diversion cases, receiving and reviewing referrals from police and school resource officers.

Conduct assessments to identify youth needs, strengths, and risks, develop individualized support plans, and determine appropriate diversion pathways.

Responsible for case management, monitoring progress, and maintaining accurate, confidential documentation.

Facilitate restorative justice processes, including victim-offender mediation, restorative conferences, peace circles, and reparative agreements where appropriate.

Develop and facilitate educational workshops for youth addressing behaviours of concern or other risk-related behaviours.





Support youth in completing diversion requirements such as community service, restitution, and restorative actions.

Build and maintain partnerships with police, justice, education, health, Indigenous, and community agencies to connect youth and families with supports.

Coordinate mentorship, leadership, and pro-social opportunities to support youth development and long-term success.

Promote awareness of diversion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed practices.

Collect program data, track outcomes, prepare reports, and contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
You Bring:

Experience in case management, youth engagement, crisis intervention, or restorative justice.

Experience navigating justice, education, health, and community-based systems to coordinate effective supports for youth.

Proven ability to engage and build trust with youth, families, and service providers to support coordinated intervention and successful diversion outcomes.

Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, restorative justice principles, and conflict resolution practices.

Understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices.

Ability to engage resistant or high-risk youth with empathy, accountability, and professionalism.

Knowledge of local community resources and support systems.

Strong organizational, documentation, and data management abilities.

Proficiency in interpreting and applying policy and procedure.

Required

Diploma in Human Services,



Social Work, Justice Studies, Criminal Justice, Child and Youth Care or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth involved in justice, social services, mental health, addictions, education, or community-based programs. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Valid Alberta Driver's license - Class 5 (or equivalent) no more than 6 demerits.

Must have access to and maintain a reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel, with proof of insurance as required. Mileage is reimbursed in accordance with organizational policy.

Must obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance, Vulnerable Sector Check, and fingerprint-based criminal record check.

Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation
Salary range of $30.63 to $39.62 as per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
