Company Description HomeTeam Network (HTN) delivers streaming technology and production services for professional, collegiate, Olympic, youth, and high school sports organizations. The company produces thousands of live events each year across 42 different sports in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. HTN partners with sports properties to enhance fan engagement through high-quality live and on-demand video. Team members contribute to a fast-moving, growth-focused environment where technology and sports intersect. The organization values reliability, innovation, and collaboration in delivering a consistent broadcast experience.
Compensation: $100,000 - $125,000 annually plus equity participation. Primarily work from home with a weekly meeting at Collider Co-working space.
Role Description Our HTN Controller owns the numbers. You will run our accounting operations end to end, close the books quickly and cleanly, keep internal controls tight as we scale, and turn financial data into decisions leadership can act on. This is a hands-on role with real reach: you will lead the day-to-day accounting function while sitting at the table with the CFO and business leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Own all accounting operations — accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Drive a fast, clean month-end and year-end close, and shorten it year over year
Build and maintain internal controls that protect company assets without slowing the business down
Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
Turn financial data into clear, actionable insight for senior leadership
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations
Lead, mentor,
and grow the accounting team
Continuously sharpen our accounting systems, processes, and policies — including automation and AI-assisted workflows
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Canadian CPA strongly preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role
Robust knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Demonstrated mastery of NetSuite — 3+ years working in NetSuite as a power user or administrator, including chart of accounts design, multi-subsidiary/multi-currency consolidation, saved searches and custom reporting, approval workflows, and month-end close within the system. You should be the person others come to with NetSuite questions.
Advanced Excel skills, plus working familiarity with other accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERPs)
Understanding of both US and Canadian Accounting Standards
Experience managing audits and tax compliance
Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Understanding of FX and Transfer Pricing.
Preferred
Experience using AI tools, Power BI, or similar software to build and accelerate internal and external reporting packages. We actively encourage the use of Claude across the finance team — for reconciliations, variance commentary, memo drafting, and process documentation — and candidates who already work this way will hit the ground running.
Experience in the technology industry, particularly in e-commerce or direct-to-consumer businesses (multi-channel revenue recognition, payment processors, sales tax across jurisdictions)
Experience with ERP implementations or system conversions
