Role Overview: The System Verification Engineering Specialist for Space Segment will be supporting the development and execution of key system verification and validation plans as part of the overall Satellite constellation “Integration, Verification and Validation” (IVV) Strategy of the Telesat LEO constellation Network.
The System Verification Engineering Specialist – Space Segment will report to the Director of Constellation System Verification (CSV).
They will help to coordinate work between the CSV team, the Space Segment team and functional groups for the Telesat Lightspeed LEO constellation, ensuring the system is ready for deployment, Network Over-The-Air testing (OTA), and System end-to-end acceptance testing.
Responsibilities:



With support from the wider CSV team, lead the transition from Space Segment development, to system deployment by synchronising the system readiness planning between Space Segment teams; Satellite & launch services, Satellite
Operations (SATOPs) and Onboard Payload Software (OBPSW) deployment
Support the development of the Lightspeed satellite constellation verification plans for System Acceptance testing, and Satellite In-Orbit-Testing (IOT) before and after initial Satellite deployment
Help to develop and maintain Space Segment verification strategy, verification matrices, test philosophies, and procedures; participate in hardware/software reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB & DRB) plus coordination of the CSV led System Readiness Review (SysRR).
Synchronize Satellite deployment tasks across segment teams to ensure hardware, software, and documentation are ready in time for satellite deployment.
Partner with key Space Segment team for Satellite, launch services and Satellite operations engineering and cross-functional teams to validate system performance and ensure seamless communication across supporting the key segment teams
Ensures all Space Segment systems meet Lightspeed readiness and mission objectives through timely delivery and completion of all necessary verification tasks.
Working within a large multi-disciplinary team, have the ability to identify key issues, identify solution and drive them to consultation efficiently and effectively




Qualifications & Experience: -Essential Qualifications & Experience: BSc/BEng or Master’s, Satellite Systems, Aerospace, Electrical/RF, or Computer Engineering or a related field
6–10 years in requirements-based testing/verification for complex Aerospace or Satellite Telecommunication systems.
Proficiency in Project Management, configuration control, Production and system Quality Control, non-conformance management, and system engineering verification protocol
-Preferred Assets: Experience in performing Satellite integration and test activities, using Electrical and RF test systems
Experience in Satellite Platform and Payload In-orbit-testing
System Engineering Design, development and deployment of Satellite systems
Project or Program Management (PMP) experience of managing complex technical systems and organizing multi-disciplinary technical teams
Working Conditions: Full time role at Telesat’s Ottawa office, with hybrid work environment
Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment
Canadian and international travel may be required
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP)
