Position summary:
As the Environmental Service Aide/ Housekeeper you are responsible and accountable for providing direct support to the surgical unit and PACU to facilitate the processing of patients. You will be r esponsible for completing thorough terminal cleaning and environmental services at a 3-OR Surgical Centre with 1 procedure room following the completion of daily cases. Hours will vary based on the timing of the final case and operational needs.
You will act in accordance with policies and procedures for proper care and maintenance of the facility and its equipment. You must have a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations related to cleaning products and demonstrate a professional and caring approach in dealing with clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Benefits working at New Westminster Surgical Centre
Pay range 21/hr-24/hr
Responsibilities include:
Complete terminal cleaning and disinfection of all operating rooms, procedure room, and designated clinical areas in accordance with IPAC standards.
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, equipment, floors, and other designated areas.
Remove and properly dispose of garbage, clinical waste, and recycling according to established procedures.
Clean and maintain kitchen, staff areas, washrooms, reception, and other common areas.
Replenish cleaning and environmental supplies as required.
Follow IPAC, WHMIS, health and safety, and workplace procedures.




Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and ready for the next day's operations.
Report maintenance, safety, supply, or cleaning concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Qualifications
Previous healthcare, hospital, surgical centre, or clinical cleaning experience preferred.
Knowledge of IPAC principles and cleaning/disinfection practices.
Ability to work independently and maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
Ability to work evenings/nights with a variable end time based on completion of surgical cases.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to safely handle cleaning chemicals, waste, and equipment.
Must be fluent in written and verbal English, and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be capable of working under pressure and performing a wide range of duties that may require independent action.
Must be proactive, cooperative, and alert, accept directions, and be able to function as a team member.
Schedule: Evening/night shift with a variable end time based on the completion of the final case and operational requirements.
