Embark on a unique journey with Royal Botanical Gardens as an Aquatic Ecology Intern. This position offers practical experience in wetlands management, fishway operations, and habitat restoration.
The internship runs from September 21, 2026, to April 16, 2027, focusing on assisting the Senior Aquatic Ecologist with monitoring and restoration programs at RBG. Key responsibilities include managing invasive species, habitat restoration, and data collection. You will play a crucial role in supporting aquatic ecosystem health through hands-on experience in various field activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in fish population monitoring and tagging
• Support habitat restoration initiatives and site preparation
• Collect and analyze scientific data for ecological research
• Coordinate volunteers and temporary staff for project efficiency
• Operate boats and sampling gear for field activities
Requirements:
• Degree in Environmental Science or related field
• Familiarity with aquatic restoration techniques
• Basic statistical analysis abilities
• Experience handling aquatic species and fieldwork
• Valid Electrofishing License and Class G Driver’s License
Develop essential skills in ecological research and conservation management while contributing to RBG's vital projects.
